We own & operate:
The Veranda is a great place for coffee and conversation. We offer coffee and light meals; as well as a selection of farm fresh vegetables.
You can take the opportunity to use our space for small meetings - or use the sunny warm reading nook for a bit of quiet time.
Hilltop Catering, can now proudly boast regular customers from local businesses, clubs and community services within the Burnie environs.
We can design menus ranging from small morning teas for two to large dinners for hundreds - we have even catered a wedding! We can also offer delivery from Wynyard to Ulverstone (fee’s may apply).
Please call us on 6433 3219 to discuss your catering.
Hilltop Community Food Cooperative
We are developing a community managed and operated food cooperative. The cooperative members are looking for small producers who would like to offer produce for sale; avid gardeners with a seasonal supply of excess vegetables; and anyone who is interested in being a part of this initiative.
Hilltop Market Garden
Jobseekers and volunteers are working tirelessly in the market garden at Tas Tafe’s Freer Farm which continues to supply the community store with seasonal vegetables. To date, over twenty plus varieties of veggies have found a place on the shelves; and this continues to grow, especially now with the addition of our new hot houses.
We look forward to expanding the market garden and experimenting with select niche markets for distribution to local cafe’s and restaurants.
Please call Tracy on 6433 3219 if you are looking for a local supplier of a particular product.
Hilltop Canteen Services
This year we were delighted to be awarded the contract to run the Burnie Primary School and Havenview Primary School Canteens. This allows us the opportunity to work with the Tasmania Canteen Association to deliver the very best food options to the school and develop our food hub model across the region. Another great outcome from running the canteen is that it has created part-time permanent positions for some of our volunteers; and acts as place based learning for a small team of suitable community members.
We make herb and vegetable packs with a variety of seeds suitable to be sown in each season. You can use the jiffy pots (supplied); or use the instructions for direct sowing. Retailing at $7.95 these packs are a great gift for young and old. Available at The Veranda and Burnie Community House.
