Hilltop Central is the evolution of our highly successful project Hilltop Fresh Produce Project. We have adopted the paddock to plate food model and are now into our third year. We have established an innovative social enterprise with four integrated income streams. ‘A project dreamed, designed and created by a group of community focused organisations and community members that are embracing new ways of working together through a collective impact framework. Sharing the vision and commitment to purpose and recognising innovation comes from different perspectives. We are proud of our efforts to make concrete, long-term changes to the business as usual approach to food, health, people, community and environment.`
Fostering partnerships with local services we continue to promote the value of healthy cooking, eating, smart shopping, budgeting, simple exercise and social inclusion, using structured programs such as the Foodcents Journey, Garden to Plate and Community Kitchens as well as bringing in food experts to directly work with the community in various ways. We also operate a free community run Fresh Produce Shed from the House five days a week. BCH provide Kommunity Kids Shorewell Park with a range of healthy nutritious food options such as hearty veggie soups, fruit yogurt cups and veggie sticks and dips to name a few.
